Amid concerns about a shortage of truck drivers, Yamato Holdings, a major courier company, has decided to start operating its own cargo plane next year in cooperation with Japan Airlines, and the first aircraft arrived at Narita Airport on the 6th.

Yamato Holdings introduced three cargo-only aircraft for the first time under a lease agreement, and the first aircraft arrived at Narita Airport on June 3 ahead of the start of operations from April next year.

With the aim of securing a new means of long-distance transportation by having its own dedicated cargo aircraft, the side of the aircraft that arrived was painted with a black cat with the company's mark, and the cargo capacity was up to 4 tons, which is equivalent to about 6 trucks.

The flight will be operated by a group company of Japan Airlines, and the plan is to operate up to 28 flights per day connecting Narita and Haneda with New Chitose and Kitakyushu.

In the transportation industry, there are concerns that the upper limit on overtime work for truck drivers will be tightened from April next year, and the labor shortage will become even more serious.

In the area of air cargo, ANA Holdings has announced the acquisition of a company that transports air cargo.
