According to the Ministry of Finance's trade statistics, the value of seafood exported from Japan to China in September was a significant decrease of 9% compared to the same month last year. This was due to China's opposition to the release of treated water from TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant and the total suspension of imports of Japan marine products.

According to the September trade statistics released by the Ministry of Finance on September 27, the amount of seafood exported from Japan to China excluding processed products was 9.5545 million yen, down 99% from the same month of the previous year.

China, which opposes the release of treated water from TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, has suspended all imports of Japan seafood since August.

According to statistics released by China's customs authorities on October 8, the value of seafood imports from Japan last month was virtually zero, without giving a figure.

According to trade statistics from the Ministry of Finance, the value of seafood exports from Japan to China last year was more than 10.18 billion yen, the highest by country and region, and there are concerns that the impact on the fisheries industry will spread further.

The government will continue to support seafood businesses in measures to combat rumors and shift their dependence on China for scallop exports, and will continue to ask China to lift import bans.
