This is the first time that the Hurun Research Institute has released the list. The list lists the "Top 100" Chinese private enterprises with the most valuable value in the traditional energy and new energy industry. "Chinese private enterprises" here refers to non-state-owned enterprises headquartered in China.

The scope of this list is Chinese private enterprises with more than 50% of the business related to the energy industry, and the headquarters of enterprises include Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The market value of listed companies is calculated based on the closing price on August 2023, 8, and the valuation of non-listed companies is estimated by reference to listed companies in the same industry or based on the latest round of financing.

According to reports, the threshold for "top 100" enterprises to be on the list is 170 billion yuan, the threshold of "top 50" is 340 billion yuan, the threshold of "top 30" is 570 billion yuan, and the threshold of "top 10" is 1100 billion yuan. There are 13 companies worth more than 13 billion yuan on the list, and their headquarters are located in <> different cities.

The list shows that CATL ranks first with a value of 1 trillion yuan, BYD ranks second with 7000 billion yuan, and Li Auto ranks third with 3000 billion yuan; 5 PV companies, LONGi Green Energy, Sungrow, Tongwei Co., Ltd., JinkoSolar and TCL Central entered the top ten.

At the same time, the list is divided into traditional energy enterprises and new energy enterprises, traditional energy enterprises still occupy a place, with 11, and the proportion of new energy enterprises is higher, with 89. "If China wants to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, the use of fossil energy as fuel must be reduced to make way for new energy." Hu Run, chairman and chief research officer of Hurun Report, said.

From the perspective of regional and provincial distribution, 89 of the 78 new energy enterprises are located in southern cities, and 11 of the 9 traditional energy enterprises are located in northern cities. East China ranked first in the number of companies on the list, with 53, including as many as 43 in the Yangtze River Delta.

From the perspective of urban distribution, Shenzhen is the city that is the best at cultivating private enterprises in the energy industry, with 11 enterprises on the list. It is followed by 4 Yangtze River Delta cities, Wuxi with 7, Shanghai, Ningbo and Suzhou with 6 each. Hurun said that the industrial foundation of these cities is very solid, and when the new energy outlet comes, they can quickly undertake relevant technologies and production capacity.

It is worth noting that in the list, 34 companies in the photovoltaic industry, 29 in the battery industry and 12 companies in the new energy vehicle industry are on the list, ranking the top three respectively. 7 each for wind power industry and energy metals; 4 each for energy and chemical industry and oil and gas; 3 in the coal industry.
