The Dragon Boat Festival has just ended, and the summer tourism market will usher in a peak of bookings in advance.

On June 6, an insider on an online travel platform told The Paper (www.thepaper.cn): "Summer bookings have begun. The first climb is currently underway and the first booking peak is expected next week. ”

The Tongcheng Travel report pointed out that this year's Dragon Boat Festival holiday is adjacent to the holiday time of primary and secondary schools, and superimposed with the first half of the summer vacation, and it is expected that the summer departure peak of passenger units such as civil aviation and railway will arrive about a week earlier. Tongcheng Travel predicts that the peak of passenger flow this summer will occur in three time periods, namely around July 7 (primary and secondary school holidays), late July to mid-August, and September 2 (one week before the start of schools in various regions). The full return of students and parent-child customers will be a highlight of this year's summer travel, with Guangzhou, Beijing and other places leading the way.

In terms of transportation, Tongcheng Travel data shows that air ticket prices will remain high this summer (July 7 to September 1) due to strong travel demand, especially around mid-to-late August. The peak passenger flow of civil aviation "summer transport" in 9 is mainly distributed in two periods, one is that from July 1 to July 8, the average domestic air ticket price (excluding aircraft construction fuel costs, the same below) remains at a relatively high level between 2023 and 7,6 yuan, and the other is that from August 7 to August 20, the average domestic air ticket price remains between 900 and 1000,8 yuan.

According to Tongcheng Travel, the average domestic air ticket price in the summer of 2023 increased by about 2022% compared with the same period in 32 and about 2019% from the same period in 5. Strong travel demand is the main factor supporting the price increase of summer air tickets.

Tongcheng Travel reports that popular flights on some popular routes in the summer are more sought-after, with a clear price increase trend, a strong willingness to book tickets in advance, and a significant increase in the number of air ticket bookings in advance compared with the same period in recent years. Air ticket booking data shows that the proportion of the two major groups of parents and children and students booking tickets more than 7 days in advance this summer is 24.9% and 18.7%, respectively, both higher than the same period in 2022.

On the same day, Tuniu also released booking data showing that this summer, domestic long-term tours dominated summer tourism consumption, accounting for 61% of the number of trips. Among them, there is strong demand for travel themes such as parent-child travel and summer vacations, and 58% of Tuniu's users have booked summer trips so far.

Tongcheng Travel predicts that summer family travel will see a full recovery in 2023, with the number of trips expected to surpass the same period in 2019. Travel big data from Tongcheng Travel shows that the proportion of parent-child customers (including the proportion of bookings of minor passengers aged 2023-1) of civil aviation and railway passengers in the summer of 17 will exceed the same period in 2019.

Industry insiders said that the full return of students and parent-child customers is an important symbol of the return of the summer peak season model.

Tongcheng travel data shows that the proportion of civil aviation passenger flow parent-child customers in the summer of 2023 is expected to reach 10%, and the proportion of railway passenger flow parent-child customers is expected to reach 8%, both of which are expected to reach the highest level in the same period since 2019.

In terms of travel days, Tuniu's data shows that users who choose 5-6 days account for 28% of the total number of trips during the holiday, followed by 3-4 days and 7-8 days at 25% and 17% respectively. In addition, more than 8% of users chose to travel for more than 10 days.

According to Tuniu's report, users in Shanghai, Nanjing, Beijing, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Chengdu, Suzhou and other places are more enthusiastic about travel, and the number of travelers ranks at the top of the list of "popular source destinations for summer travel".
