"We must get used to higher prices, the era of cheap energy from Russia is finally over," TASS quoted Muller as saying in an interview with the Rheinische Post newspaper.

He also warned that Germany could face gas shortages next winter.

Muller stressed that the reduction in wholesale electricity prices can occur only in six months or a year.

As previously noted by the European Commissioner for the Economy Paolo Gentiloni, Germany is among the EU countries most severely affected by the crisis.

The head of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, claims that Europe has completely lost its energy security, having lost access to cheap energy resources from Russia.

According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the EU authorities have begun to realize that US policy is leading to the deindustrialization of Europe.
