Chinanews.com, Meizhou, March 6th (Guo Jun, Huang Wuxian, Zhang Jing) The construction of the Meilong high-speed railway is progressing steadily.

The reporter learned from the China Railway 25th Bureau on the 6th that the excavation of the longest tunnel on the entire line of the Meilong High-speed Railway - the inclined shaft of the Xiahuangtian Tunnel has reached a total of 2,000 meters.

So far, the overall excavation mileage of the tunnel has exceeded 70%, creating good conditions for the accelerated advancement of subsequent construction.

It is reported that the Xiahuangtian Tunnel is located in the fourth bid section of the Meilong High-speed Railway, and was constructed by the China Railway 25th Bureau.

The tunnel has a total length of 7,377 meters and a maximum buried depth of 290 meters. The entrance is located in Wuhua County, Meizhou City, and the exit is located in Longchuan County, Heyuan City.

Lu Teng, the person in charge of the site of the China Railway 25th Bureau, said: "The Xiahuangtian Tunnel has abundant groundwater and complex geological conditions. The construction and excavation faces many technical difficulties such as underground water inrush, fault fracture zone, and large deformation of soft rock. The construction is difficult and safety risks. It is a key control project on the entire line of Meilong High-speed Railway.” The construction party set up three work areas of entrance, inclined shaft and exit, and carried out construction in four working faces, strengthened various management measures, and made every effort to speed up the excavation speed.

According to the construction plan, the tunnel will be completed by the end of July this year.

The main tunnel of the inclined shaft of the Xiahuangtian Tunnel, which has made a breakthrough in this construction, has a maximum length of 2,422 meters.

The Meilong high-speed railway is located in Meizhou and Heyuan, with a total length of 95.6 kilometers. There are 4 stations on the whole line: Meizhou West, Xingning South, Wuhua, and Longchuan West. The construction period is 4 years. It is the first self-invested construction in Guangdong Province. The kilometer high-speed rail project is also a major project that closely connects Meizhou, Heyuan and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

After the completion of the Meilong high-speed railway, the travel time between Meizhou and Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will be shortened to 1.5 hours, which will greatly improve the transportation capacity of the channel and improve the transportation organization, and will accelerate the construction of the Pearl River Delta, eastern Guangdong and Guangdong. It is of great significance to improve the layout of the high-speed railway network in Guangdong Province and promote regional economic development.
