A smartphone app that supports the treatment of insomnia disorder has received government approval, and the company that developed it is aiming to start providing the app.

As a new option other than taking medicine, there is a growing movement to use apps for such treatments.

Developed by a venture company in Tokyo, this app is prescribed by doctors for patients with insomnia disorder.



A treatment method called "cognitive behavioral therapy" is performed with the function of the app, sleep time and sleepiness are recorded, and bedtime is instructed.



The company has formed a sales partnership with a major pharmaceutical company and is aiming to start offering the app.



Taro Ueno, president of Susmed, which developed the drug, said, ``Currently, treatment options are limited to drugs, but we want to expand the options as a treatment that does not use drugs.''



In Japan, three applications that support such treatment, including this one, have been approved by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, and applications that support the treatment of hypertension have already begun to be provided.



There is a movement among major pharmaceutical companies to enter the market, and there is a growing movement to use it as a new option other than taking medicine.
