China News Agency, Haiyang, Shandong, February 14 (Reporter Wang Jiaoni) In the Haiyang Nuclear Power Park in Shandong, the Haiyang-Rushan Nuclear Energy Heating Project started construction on the 14th. This is China's first cross-regional nuclear energy heating project.

The project mainly constructs the heat supply pipeline from Haiyang to Rushan, and builds a supporting heat source distribution center with a total design heating capacity of 13 million square meters, realizing long-distance and cross-regional nuclear energy heating.

It is reported that in 2019, Haiyang, Shandong Province took the lead in testing and completed the first phase of the nuclear energy heating project. In that heating season, 72 communities used nuclear energy heating for heating; The first "zero carbon" heating city.

While ensuring urban heating, Haiyang City is actively exploring cross-regional heating.

After the Haiyang-Rushan nuclear energy heating project is completed, it can save 240,000 tons of coal, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 640,000 tons, reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by 1,007 tons, and reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by 279 tons.

In recent years, Shandong Haiyang's clean energy industry has gathered 51 projects with a total investment of 363.1 billion yuan. The clean energy power generation accounts for about 20% of the total clean energy power generation in Shandong Province.

The city has launched the world's first deep-sea photoelectricity, the first nuclear power and the first offshore wind power in Shandong Province, and created a precedent for nuclear energy heating in China.
