“It is the sovereign right of Russia to respond to such illegitimate, absolutely absurd measures – the so-called price ceiling.
Therefore, this was preceded by an internal Russian expert study, ”Peskov told reporters.
He noted that there were "no direct contacts with OPEC + on this topic."
On December 27, the Russian leader signed a decree on retaliatory measures to impose a price ceiling on Russian oil.
According to the document, deliveries of oil and oil products from Russia to those who prescribe in contracts the maximum price for Russian energy resources are prohibited.
The document will enter into force on February 1 and will be valid until July 1, 2023.
