The Board of Directors was briefed on the current status of the authority's control activities with regard to the commercial operation of the first and second units of the station, and the various tests that are conducted in the third unit in preparation for commercial operation.

The Authority is currently reviewing the application for a license to operate the fourth unit.

The Board of Directors approved the issuance of a license to Nawah Energy Company to conduct some controlled activities in the fourth unit of the Barakah plant, as this license allows the operator to handle and store new nuclear fuel in the fourth unit.

This approval came after the Authority conducted assessments and inspections to ensure the license applicant's compliance with the Authority's requirements in terms of safety, security and guarantees.

The Board of Directors also approved issuing the Authority's strategy for dealing with "orphan resources".

This strategy requires the preparation of a general action plan by the Authority and the members of the Radiation Protection Committee to establish governance by defining the relevant roles and responsibilities within the committee and building the necessary capabilities to discover, search for and recover these sources.
