after fixed numbers

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and the Digital Government expand the provision of number transfer services between providers to include free (800) numbers

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and the Digital Government announced the launch of the service of transferring toll-free phone numbers (800 numbers) from one service provider to another, while ensuring that the number remains the same without any change, with the aim of enhancing competition between service providers in the telecommunications sector, and expanding the range of options for customers.

The new service gives companies that have been allocated a toll-free number (800) the option to keep the number and change the service provider, allowing to experience the level of services offered by both service providers in the UAE without the need to change the free phone number approved by the company.

The authority launched the fixed-phone number transfer service in 2021, where more than 12,000 fixed numbers have been transferred between service providers since its launch. Through which more than 2 million numbers were transferred.

The number portability service aims to enhance competition between service providers in the telecommunications sector, and provide the opportunity for customers to experience the level of services provided by service providers in the UAE without changing their fixed phone numbers.

On these services, His Excellency Eng. Mohamed Al Ramsi, Deputy Director General of the Communications Sector at the TRA, said: “Through launching the number transfer service in all its mobile, fixed and free forms, we aim to enhance the spirit of competition between service providers to provide the best services and offers. His Excellency Al-Ramsi stressed that the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and the Digital Government are continuing their quest to launch the best services in line with the directions of the state and the directives of the wise leadership. He added: “The telecommunications sector today provides the infrastructure for digital development in various sectors, and it plays an important role in The life of community members, and the authority works to study its services and work to improve them on an ongoing basis, and is keen to receive suggestions and opinions from customers, study them and benefit from them in providing new services that meet the aspirations and expectations of the customers.”

The Communications Regulatory Authority and the Digital Government confirmed that number transfers require the customer to commit to a number of things, including paying the bills due with the current service provider, and he can transfer his number to the new service provider provided that the phone number is not partially or completely cut off, and after the transfer process is completed, the customer will be given A grace period to settle his financial contractual obligations and pay the applicable fees due. The customer must pay all amounts due to his old service provider before or after transferring his number to the new service provider, and in the event that all financial dues are not settled to the old service provider during the grace period. After the transfer is completed, the entire line with the new service provider may be cut off until all outstanding dues to the old service provider are settled.
