This came during the visit of His Highness yesterday to the Dubai Creek Port, to inaugurate the joint building of the Dubai Creek to operate at its full capacity, in the presence of the Vice Chairman of the Dubai Border Security Council, Lieutenant-General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, and Sheikh Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Director Executive Director of Dubai Maritime City Authority, Director General of Dubai Customs, CEO of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, and a number of council members.

During the visit, His Highness, the Chairman of the Dubai Border Security Council, inspected the entry building “Al Shindagha” and the exit building “Al Ras” in addition to the Dubai Creek pier, where he praised the efforts of government departments and the concerned authorities represented in the Council, and his role in raising the level of coordination and cooperation between the concerned government agencies. By supervising the border crossings at the local and federal levels, and ensuring the exchange of knowledge, experiences and best practices among them, in order to enhance the implementation of the strategic plan of the Emirate of Dubai in the axes related to the security of border crossings, and improve performance to reach the emirate’s competitiveness in this field to its highest levels at the regional and international levels.

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stressed the importance of the role of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation headed by Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, and the efforts made to develop navigation in Dubai Creek.

His Highness praised the flexibility of the procedures and services provided to ensure the smooth movement of ships, which had a significant impact on increasing the movement and numbers of wooden ships to and from Dubai.

His Highness praised the efforts of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation to keep pace with the dynamics of Dubai and enhance its position as the city of the future by developing smart customs systems and programs to secure the needs and requirements of customers at any time and place, as the total weights of goods exported through Dubai Creek during the first nine months of this year reached 130 One million tons, with a growth rate of 10%, compared to a total of 118 million tons for the same period in 2021, to integrate the roles of the ports in achieving protection for society and strengthening the economy by accelerating and facilitating the movement of trade, in cooperation with the Dubai Police and the relevant government agencies.

A noticeable increase was recorded in the number of large wooden ships received through the Dubai Creek port, reaching 200 ships.

This rise contributed to the growth of commercial activity in Dubai through seaports, and the increase in exports of goods, through communication and cooperation between the Maritime Wasl Office and the strategic partners entrusted with facilitating the issuance of permits and accelerating the entry and exit of wooden ships.

And in order to ensure the accuracy and flexibility of the movement of ships in Dubai ports, all the necessary facilities are provided to coordinate the sailing operations and all the tasks of wooden ships and sailors 72 hours before the arrival of the ships, as the shipping agent’s office books the berth and informs the seafarers to prepare their goods for export or import.

The number of waiting hours for wooden ships to exit has also been reduced from (8 to 10 hours), to 30 minutes for sailing outside the emirate, which contributed to an increase in the flow of ships to record 12,000 ships, to and from Dubai Creek Harbor, during the first half of this year.

In the context of integrating efforts to improve the navigational movement in Dubai ports, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, led by the Director General of the Department, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri, has adopted an advanced system for electronic services using the latest technologies and smart devices to speed up the completion of transactions, facilitate the issuance of seafarers’ permits and raise the efficiency of workflow. The number of sailors departing and arriving from and to the Dubai Creek port reached about 80,000 sailors during the first half of this year.
