Kakao announced that as of 9 am today, the main functions of Kakao Mail have been restored.
Kakao expects that the next email, which has not yet been normalized, will be restored as early as today.
Restoration of Kakao Bank and Map, Kakao T and Navi, Kakao Webtoon, Melon, and Games has been completed until today, the fourth day after the Kakao service stopped working.
However, portal services such as Daum Cafe, Kakao Story, and TStory's search function, channel advertisement message function used by self-employed people, and talk drawer are still not properly serviced.
Kakao explained, "Due to the amount and complexity of data and the specificity of recovery equipment, the recovery of core services such as mail and talk channels is being delayed."
Amid complaints from users as the complete restoration of Kakao service was delayed, it was found that the limit of liability insurance purchased by SK C&C, the data center building owner, to compensate tenants such as Kakao in the event of an accident was about 7 billion won.
Property damage compensation insurance also has a limit of 400 billion won, but it only covers damage to SK C&C's own buildings, etc.
The insurance industry analyzes that it would be unreasonable to expect Kakao to sufficiently compensate service users through SK C&C's insurance compensation amount.
