In August, Aveyron attracted 1.9 million visitors to its lands, according to figures revealed by the Aveyron Attractif Tourisme agency.

This represents an increase of 6.4% compared to 2021, 32.7% compared to 2020 and 71.9% compared to 2019, report our colleagues from Center Presse Aveyron.

The purchasing power of tourists is falling

But in the end, over the whole of the summer, tourist numbers returned to normal after two summers which had been deemed exceptional by tourism professionals.

This is the result of a very calm month of July, even catastrophic for certain areas of activity.

In addition, tourism professionals have pointed to a sharp decline in the purchasing power of visitors to Aveyron.

Between reducing spending in shops or shortening stays, specialists have seen an effect described as “alarming”.
