The American company Apple, through its stores in the UAE, yesterday launched its new versions of “iPhone 14”, “iPhone 14 Plus”, “iPhone 14 Pro” and “iPhone 14 Promax”, so that the UAE will be one of the first countries to launch in it. Apple released its new phones on the 7th of this month.

And “Apple” stores in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, especially in the “Dubai Mall”, witnessed a great demand from consumers to reserve and receive new phones, as they waited in long queues, which is the largest since the “Corona” pandemic.

Consumers told "Emirates Today" in Abu Dhabi, during a tour of the "Apple" stores, that they arrived before six in the morning on Friday, while some of them had to wait hours before they could book and receive the new phones.

For his part, a source in Apple stated that the “14 Pro” and “14 Pro Max” phones in the “Dubai Mall” witnessed the greatest demand, noting that hundreds of consumers queued in long queues to get the phones.

The source, who preferred not to be named, said that these phones were either seized or sold within a few hours of their launch.

He added that the first person to receive the new iPhones at The Dubai Mall was Abdul Rafiq, who is of Indian nationality.

The source explained that Abdel Rafiq has been waiting at four in the morning to reserve the phone and receive it, pointing out that he has been buying new versions of the iPhone from The Dubai Mall since 2016.

In turn, the retail expert, Ibrahim Al-Bahr, said that the great demand for iPhone reservations this year, which is the largest since the pandemic, is evidence of economic recovery and stability of existing jobs, in addition to creating new jobs.

He added that the great economic development and the mega projects being launched in the country support confidence in the future.

Al-Bahr also indicated that the high demand also indicates the consumer's interest in advanced technology and his keenness to acquire everything that is new and take advantage of its great advantages.

He pointed out that the phone is no longer a luxury item because it dispenses with many devices, including television and video, and has become an electronic wallet that provides the main services, especially banking services for the consumer so that he can obtain them at his home.

Retail expert Davey Nagpal agreed with Al Bahar that the demand for new phones is a sign of economic recovery and a rising standard of living.

He said that the measures taken by the government since the pandemic to help businesses grow and return employment and salaries to their previous levels, played a major role in the recovery.
