This overhaul has created a new record for the cold repair of the nickel flash furnace in the past 30 years. After the overhaul is completed, the annual processing capacity of nickel concentrate in the flash furnace system has increased to 850,000 tons.
On the same day, the 2022 annual maintenance and ignition ceremony of the flash furnace system of Jinchuan Group's nickel smelter was held at Jinchuan Group in Jinchang City, Gansu Province.
Jinchang City is known as the "nickel capital of the motherland" because of the development of mining enterprises and the establishment of a city.

According to the disclosure of the group's nickel smelter, this overhaul is another comprehensive upgrade and overhaul after the cold repair in 2010.
It involves 5 workshops, including flash furnace system, 480,000-ton sulfuric acid system, high matte grinding-floating system, 80-square-meter reverberatory furnace, and sub-sodium ring-collecting system, 797 maintenance items, and more than 3,000 inspection personnel at all levels.
After the maintenance is completed, the annual processing capacity of nickel concentrate in the flash furnace system is increased to 850,000 tons, and the processing capacity of dry concentrate in the reaction tower is increased to 100 tons per hour.
The successful ignition of the flash furnace marks that the continuous maintenance work of the flash furnace in the nickel smelter has entered the final stage.
The flash furnace, which has been in operation for 30 years, has greatly increased its production capacity after upgrading, and the level of intelligence, standardization and automation has been significantly improved, further improving the long-term safe and stable operation of metallurgical furnaces.
The flash furnace upgrading and renovation project is a sub-item of the major project "Innovative and Renovation of Nickel-Fire System Integration" in Gansu Province. For the remaining projects, 6 company-level overhaul projects and 11 sets of equipment were purchased and installed simultaneously.
