At an economic event held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Korea and China, the two countries emphasized the need to expand economic cooperation with one voice.

The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the China International Trade Promotion Committee, the Korea International Trade Association, and KOTRA, held the 'Business Forum commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Korea-China diplomatic ties' by connecting Seoul and Beijing online on the 24th (local time).

At the forum, Prime Minister Han Duk-soo and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, as well as ambassadors of the two countries, and Chairman of the Korean Chamber of Commerce, Chey Tae-won, commemorated the achievements of economic cooperation between the two countries over the past 30 years and called for strengthening private sector cooperation through a video.

In his congratulatory remarks, Prime Minister Han said, "Trade volume between Korea and China surpassed a record high of $300 billion last year, a nearly 50-fold increase compared to when diplomatic ties were established. We need to further strengthen cooperation with Korea,” he said.

Prime Minister Li also said, “The development of bilateral relations has yielded abundant fruit through joint efforts over the past 30 years, and economic and trade cooperation has also achieved remarkable results. I hope that peace in the region will be promoted, taking into consideration and important matters.”

Citing a Chinese proverb that 'a good neighbor is like a priceless treasure', Chairman Choi emphasized, "We desperately need economic cooperation between the businessmen of the two countries based on trust more than ever."

In the congratulatory remarks of key figures from both countries, there was also an order to finish the negotiations for the second phase of the Korea-China free trade agreement and FTA as soon as possible and to strengthen economic cooperation.
