According to insiders, Boeing is making further progress in fixing problems with its 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

After a forced break of almost a year and a half, the manufacturer could probably resume deliveries in August, two people familiar with the matter told the Reuters news agency.

The US aviation authority FAA has approved a test plan submitted by Boeing, which is intended to ensure that the long-haul aircraft are in perfect condition.

The FAA and Boeing did not comment.

The company had repeatedly stopped deliveries of this type in May of last year due to manufacturing defects.

The first customer since then is American Airlines, the insiders said.

The airline previously said it expects nine 787s this year, including two in early August.

Boeing boss Dave Calhoun said on Wednesday that preparations for the first deliveries of these machines were in the final stages.
