Streaming is largely responsible for the fact that the global market for music recordings has been growing for years.

It is only logical that there is lively discussion about the effects on the music itself and even more about financial issues.

According to which model Spotify and Co. distribute is one of the key questions in the debate.

Yet another entirely different aspect is how much of the payouts -- whether on a pro rata or UCPS basis -- get to the artists.

Because that depends on the individual contracts with the distributor, publisher or label (and is often forgotten).

Whether the services should cede more than the current standard of around two-thirds of their revenues to the music industry is also an issue for the future.

As well as the question of which part of this money should go to the rights holders of the recording and the underlying texts and compositions.

The discussion about the distribution mode should pick up speed with the agreement between Soundcloud and Warner.

With a view to a better database that is necessary and also to the debate itself, it can only help - especially if others follow the example.
