The Spanish Christmas lottery "El Gordo" is considered one of the largest lotteries in the world, as there is a total of around 2.3 billion euros to be won here.

However, this sum is traditionally distributed among many winners, sometimes entire villages.

The United States is also known for high lottery winnings.

The largest single win in the world so far in October 2018 with more than 1.5 billion dollars is said to have been attributed to a single player from South Carolina.

In Germany, too, there are always records like this coming Friday (July 22nd).

Because then, for the first time in the history of the "Eurojackpot" lottery, a winning sum of 120 million euros awaits the player or players with the five "right" numbers out of 50 and two matching Euro numbers.

Since March 2022, the tenth anniversary of the lottery, this has been the maximum possible jackpot size.

Previously, the prize money was limited to 90 million euros.

A three-digit million prize has only been paid out once so far: On May 20, an Internet tip from North Rhine-Westphalia achieved a good 110 million euros.

One in 140 million chance of winning

The overall increase in profits went hand in hand with the introduction of another draw on Tuesday and a changed system and reduction in the probability of winning.

The two additional numbers must now be chosen correctly from twelve euro numbers and not from ten as before.

The chance of winning the main prize (like in the lottery 6 out of 49) is one in 140 million.

A betting field costs two euros plus the processing fee of the state lottery company (around 0.60 to 0.80 euros per ticket).

Eurojackpot is a lottery played in Germany and 17 other European countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Italy, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic and Hungary .

Also in the 15th draw on Tuesday, the top prize category remained vacant.

Nevertheless, some players should have been happy about the winning numbers 20, 23, 24, 37 and 43 as well as the Euro numbers 9 and 10.

Four German players from Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hamburg and Hesse each received 891,788 euros for five correct numbers plus two matching euro numbers.

Only five correct ones brought in 154,760.20 euros, which went to Bavaria, Hamburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark and three times to Finland.

Unlike 6 out of 49, there is no compulsory payout for the Eurojackpot, where the jackpot of a maximum of 45 million euros may be forcibly paid out to winners in a lower class.

And so the drawing on Friday could not be the last where the Eurojackpot is about 120 million euros.

Prize class two benefits from the maximum limit.

There it is about 19 million euros on Friday.
