Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering's subcontractor labor and management have been negotiating to resolve the strike since 11 am yesterday.

However, it was stopped at around 11:20 pm without a conclusion.

It is known that both sides of the labor and management have narrowed their positions to some extent on the wage increase, which was the key reason for the strike.

This is because the union reduced the demand from the initial 30% increase to 10%, and the management, which was 'impossible to raise', also proposed a 4.5% increase.

It is known that they have reached a certain degree of opinion on the guarantee of union activities of partner companies, such as recognition of full-time union members, which was another requirement.

However, it seems that the reason the negotiations were halted without reaching a final conclusion was because there were differences of opinion as to who will be responsible for the damages caused by the strike.

The union demanded that the claim for damages raised in relation to the strike be withdrawn, but the management is refusing to do so.

This is the reason why Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering's losses due to the strike are huge enough to reach about 700 billion won so far.

To solve this problem, Minister of Employment and Labor Lee Jeong-sik visited Geoje for two days in a row to meet with labor and management, but to no avail.

Rep. Woo Won-sik and Kang Min-jung, who belong to the Euljiro Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea, also visited the site late at night to meet with labor and management.

Both labor and management agree to resolve the situation before the start of summer vacation on the 23rd, but the issue of withdrawing a claim for damages is a stumbling block.

It is known that negotiations will resume at 10 am today, but the union announced today that if there is no progress, they will start a full-fledged struggle.
