Pedro Sánchez's announcement during the state of the nation debate of more taxes for banks and energy companies has hit the Ibex hard, which has plummeted as a result of the words of the Prime Minister.

The main Spanish selective has lost the 8,000 integers.

In a day that at the moment had been flat, the index collapsed with the words of the chief executive.

The strongest falls were found in Banking: Caixabank, Bankinter and Sabadell, which dropped around 8%.

The drop in BBVA exceeded 5%.

The degree of exposure of these financial entities to the Spanish market has marked the declines.

Sánchez has marked his intervention by a new levy "the large financial entities, which have already begun to benefit from the rise in the interest rate", a levy that would raise 3,000 million, 1,500 million in each of the years in which it would be valid.

This tax, he has explained, will last for two years and will seek to collect 1,500 million each year.

Previously, the president had confirmed that a tax on "dominant groups" in the energy sector will be in force in 2023 and 2024, in order to collect 2,000 million per year.

In total, the State will be able to inject around 7,000 million euros into its coffers for these measures.
