On the morning of June 16, with the 5818 passenger train leaving Xinjiang Hotan Station, the Heruo Railway was officially opened for operation.

Hotan to Ruoqiang can be reached in 11 hours and 26 minutes, and the railway network in Xinjiang has been further improved, forming the world's first desert railway loop - a 2,712-kilometer-long Taklimakan desert railway loop.

The Heruo Railway has a total length of 825 kilometers and a designed speed of 120 kilometers per hour, ending the history of inaccessibility to trains in Luopu, Cele, Yutian, Minfeng and other counties in Hotan area and Qiemo County in Bayingoleng Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture. The travel of people of all ethnic groups and the transportation of goods along the route drives the development of resources along the route, which is of great significance to maintaining national unity, consolidating frontier national defense, and helping rural revitalization.
