Deputies and senators agreed on Thursday to change borrower insurance for home loans for the benefit of policyholders.

Europe 1 takes stock of this small revolution announced in the world of credit which could allow you to save between 5,000 to 15,000 euros.

It is a small revolution which is announced in the world of the credit.

This Thursday, deputies and senators paved the way for the possibility for the French to be able to terminate their contract at any time.

Until now, you had to wait for the anniversary date of the credit in order to be able to get rid of your insurer at no cost.

If the text is definitively adopted by the National Assembly next Thursday and the Senate on February 17, this will open up a new possibility for the 7 million French people who have a mortgage.

Between 5,000 and 15,000 euros in savings per loan

Concretely, the latter will be able, from September, to compare the offer of their bank with those of alternative insurers to go for the cheapest.

Note that this device, which applies from June 1 for new contracts, will save between 5,000 and 15,000 euros per loan.

"It's better in the pocket of the French than in the pocket of insurers and bankers, we will still say it", slips into a smile at the microphone of Europe 1 Eric Maumy, the president of the April insurance group.

"The market will be very open: alternative insurers, bankers and consumers will finally have a choice."

Measures that will "benefit access to housing"

And this is not the only development brought about by this text, since another major advance will make its debut: the reinforced right to be forgotten.

This "concerns all French people who have had a pathology or who are ill to no longer declare it after 5 years".

Until now, French people who have had cancer or a pathology such as hepatitis C had to inform their insurer for 10 years from the end of the therapeutic protocol.

"A real brake", insists Eric Maumy who welcomes measures which will "benefit access to housing".

In addition, this text must also remove the medical questionnaire for French people under 60 who wish to borrow less than 200,000 euros.
