The UAE ranked first in the Arab world in the "Global Prosperity Index" for the year 2021 issued by the British Legatum Institute.

The Prosperity Index is an annual ranking developed by the Legatum Institute and is based on a variety of factors including wealth, economic growth, quality of life, health, education and personal well-being.

The purpose of the index is to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of countries to identify the economic choices that must be made to continue building inclusive societies, unlocking innovation, and enabling people to achieve prosperity.

The index measures the performance of 167 countries, based on 12 pillars in three basic areas of prosperity, including the comprehensive standards of societies, the investment environment and open economies, and the living, health and educational conditions of people.

In the Arab world, the UAE ranked first, followed by Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.

At the global level, Denmark came at the top of the list of the most prosperous countries, then Norway and Sweden, followed by Finland and then Switzerland.

It is noteworthy that the UAE topped the world in terms of its residents' ability to access the Internet and their levels of use in 2020, according to the list issued by the US News and World Report.

The list monitors the spread of the Internet and the percentage of its use among the population in various countries of the world over the past year.

The UAE topped the list after being unique in using the Internet among its residents, as the percentage of their use of the Internet reached 100%.

Qatar came in second place with a utilization rate of 99.65%, while the Emirate of Liechtenstein in the heart of Europe ranked third with a rate of 99.55%.

Bahrain came fourth with a rate of 99.54%, and Iceland came in fifth place with 99%.

The UAE jumped 31 ranks at once in each of the "Internet users" index at the end of September 2021, in which it achieved fourth place globally, and also jumped 31 places in the "Proportion of population with higher education" index, in which it ranked 16th globally.
