Emirates Airlines collaborates with "Al Hosn" to simplify travel to the European Union

Emirates offers its customers traveling from the United Arab Emirates to the European Union more opportunities to make the most of their travels with confidence. The carrier is working, in cooperation with the Al-Hosn application, to enable the reading and identification of customers’ health credentials through QR codes approved by the European Union, including the status of the “Covid-19” vaccine and the results of the PCR test, on the “IATA passport” application. Emirates has also partnered with "Al Hosn", the official digital platform for "Covid-19" tests in the United Arab Emirates, to provide greater comfort and smoother flights for its customers.

Emirates customers have to download the "IATA passport", scan the QR code of the Al Hosn travel card, and re-upload the results back to the app.

Citizens and residents of the UAE will also be able to download negative PCR test results and vaccination certificates without the need to visit specific laboratories.

The new improvements make it easier for Emirates customers to take advantage of the IATA passport and obtain "Ok to Travel" before they depart for any destination in the European Union via the airline's network.

Emirates customers traveling from the UAE to the European Union can also use the Al Hosn app to reliably establish their health status, be able to easily enter hospitality and entertainment venues, attend events or initiate other experiences that require a negative test result or proof of vaccination. This reduces the use of multiple applications for proof of test and vaccination status while in the EU, and allows convenient and safe movement for Emirates customers.

“As part of Emirates’ plan to implement digital verification and make travel smoother, we are enhancing the customer experience across the entire journey when it comes to managing and uploading test results and proof of vaccination in partnership with Al Hosn,” said Adel Al Redha, Emirates Chief Operating Officer. To expand the functionality of tools available to our customers such as IATA Passport Enabling the reading of QR codes for COVID-19 test and vaccination in the app for customers traveling to the European Union is a key step to instill confidence and provide greater assurance Al Hosn has gone to great lengths to get the COVID certification system equivalency We are pleased to thank them for making the UAE one of the few countries that have ensured recognition of its exams and certificates for its citizens and residents in all EU countries.”

A spokesperson for the Al Hosn team said: “Our partnership with Emirates Airlines exemplifies how important it is to build a safe and comfortable technology integration. Emirates has built a great model for safe travel during the pandemic, and we are pleased to be part of this model. We also thank Emirates Airlines for the success of this cooperation and we look forward to To strengthen our cooperation. Al Hosn has been hosted as a national project on the National Cloud and we invite all national projects to join us.”

Last July, Emirates Airlines took the initiative to integrate the National Health Fortress system through the national cloud into its travel check-in system, which allowed rapid digital retrieval and verification of medical records for "Covid-19", regardless of where the vaccination was received or the location of the examination.

Relevant health information is handled in a highly secure manner consistent with data privacy protocols, and is immediately removed from Emirates' systems after verification is completed.

Emirates was also one of the first airlines in the global industry to experiment with the IATA Passport, providing this solution to customers traveling to 50 cities across its routes.
