(The 4th CIIE) Foreign companies talk about participating experience: New friends "run" to join China's green food market

China News Service, Shanghai, November 6 (Reporter Li Jiajia) Entered the Chinese market in June this year, and appeared at the 4th China International Import Expo in November. The Australian plant meat leader V2food "running" joined China Green for the first time. Food market.

In recent years, plant meat has set off an unprecedented wave of enthusiasm in the capital market, and more and more Chinese people are willing to try this low-carbon and environmentally friendly innovative product.

In 2019, Impossible Foods, a Silicon Valley start-up in the United States, brought 50,000 copies of plant-based meat delicacies to the stage of the second CIIE, allowing visitors to "smell the taste" and rushed; in 2020, the meat giant Cargill In the third CIIE, the application scenarios of plant meat products were expanded, from meat patties and sausages to plant meat snacks.

This time it was the turn of the Australian innovative company V2food.

Regardless of the fact that it has not been in China for a long time, in Australia and New Zealand, a series of plant meat products developed by it have occupied half of the two major markets.

Although China's vegetable meat market has great potential and consumer acceptance is gradually increasing, "but in fact, the development of vegetable meat in China is particularly difficult because the Chinese people have particularly high requirements for taste."

In an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Agency, Pan Mingdong, general manager of V2food China, told reporters with mixed feelings, "Participating in the CIIE is to enter the public consumer's vision in a more mainstream way."

"In China, how can plant meat make some products that are suitable for the taste of the Chinese public and acceptable is a relatively big challenge for all plant meat companies."

Pan Mingdong found that the vegetable meat companies that have entered the Chinese market are very good at catering to the Chinese people’s needs for cooking methods and product categories. “They will launch vegetable meat dumplings and vegetable meat buns, all with the purpose of reducing the difficulties caused by consumers’ cooking products. , Convenient and ready-to-eat, and more Chinese-style products can also be more acceptable to consumers."

The "latecomer" V2food also knows the importance of catering to Chinese consumers. On top of this, it also plans to try something different from traditional plant meat companies.

For example, the company puts the research and development autonomy of all semi-finished plant meat products in China, and the Chinese team is responsible for the research and development and production of steamed buns, dumplings, spring rolls and other products, while accelerating the layout in East and North China.

Another example is realizing localized production of products.

Pan Mingdong revealed that the first joint venture foundry will be established in China in March next year. Compared with the original imports from Australia, the price of locally produced products will drop significantly.

In addition, V2food is working hard to improve the taste and develop ready-to-eat pre-made products that are more suitable for Chinese consumers.

Pan Mingdong believes that working hard in the above three aspects can help V2food achieve corner overtaking and quickly occupy the leading position of China's vegetable meat market.

For the first time at the CIIE, V2food brought a rich product matrix such as beef burger patties and pork pre-products, and explained to the public through the booth setting: Compared with animal meat, every kilogram of V2 vegetable protein meat produced can be It saves 99% of production water, 99% of land resources, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 97%.

Pan Mingdong said that China now attaches great importance to carbon emissions and the concept of carbon neutrality. Low-carbon health products such as plant meat conform to the trend of dual-carbon goals and help to achieve the dual-carbon goals.

"We participated in the CIIE to show our attitude: V2food is willing to provide healthier and more delicious products to the public while helping to reduce pollution and damage to water and land resources, and to contribute to the development of the earth's environmental protection." (End) )
