More than two years have passed since commercial whaling resumed in Japan, but whale meat consumption has been sluggish.

For this reason, industry groups carried large whale meat without special freezing and shipped it to the Toyosu market in order to let them know the taste.

Japan has withdrawn from the IWC = International Whaling Commission and has resumed commercial whaling since July.

Last year's catch was estimated to be about 30% less than in 2018, when research whaling was conducted, and consumption is also sluggish.

The national government has contributed 2.1 billion yen in subsidies and funds to whaling companies this year in order to ensure the sustainable use of whales.

For this reason, the Japan Whaling Association, an industry group, is trying to increase consumption by letting consumers know the taste of meat, and before "Whale Day" on September 4, a large scale will be held at the Toyosu Market on the 3rd. We shipped raw meat of Bryde's whale.

It is said that whales caught off the Pacific Ocean can be transported without special freezing, and you can enjoy the original taste of whales with less odor and elasticity.

The person in charge of the fish store that I bought said, "When I tasted it, it wasn't dull, it was chewy and delicious. I would like to recommend it to customers."

Industry groups say they want to increase sales of whale meat so that they can independently engage in commercial whaling without relying on state subsidies.
