"The IMF Executive Board yesterday agreed with my proposal for a new general allocation of special drawing rights (SDRs) equivalent to $ 650 billion, the largest allocation in the history of the IMF," IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said in a statement.

According to her, this is necessary to meet global needs in the deepest crisis since the Great Depression.

She noted that if approved, the distribution of SDRs would be completed by the end of August.

On April 8, the International Monetary and Financial Committee issued a communiqué in which it said that the global economic recovery from the crisis amid the pandemic is progressing faster than expected.
