Japan Post has announced a policy to reduce the delivery system, such as eliminating Saturday delivery of regular mail from October.

As a result, the number of days required for delivery of regular mail will increase by about one day from the current level.

Japan Post announced at a press conference on the 1st that it will reduce its postal delivery system after October.

According to this, in response to the enactment of the revised Postal Law in November last year, which changed the delivery obligation of ordinary mail by post offices except express delivery and Yu-Pack from "6 days or more a week" to "5 days or more a week". This October we will eliminate delivery on Saturday.

Furthermore, from January next year, we will increase the number of employees involved in parcel delivery instead of eliminating the postal sorting work that was done at midnight.

As a result, the number of days required for delivery of regular mail will increase by about one day from the current level.

There is no change in the number of days required for delivery of packages other than regular mail, such as registered mail, express delivery, Yu-Pack and Letter Pack Plus.

In addition, we anticipate that demand for express delivery will increase in line with this, and we will reduce the express delivery fee by about 10% in October.

Takashi Saito, General Manager of the Logistics Business Planning Department of Japan Post, said, "The number of postal items is decreasing year by year, and there is an advantage in reforming work styles."
