It sounds scandalous at first: employees on short-time work are threatened with additional tax claims.

In response to a request from the left in the Bundestag, the federal government has just announced that the tax authorities are expecting around 1.6 billion euros in additional income - although the short-time allowance itself is tax-free.

However, due to the so-called progression proviso, additional payments are often due after submitting the tax return, to which short-time workers are obliged.

However, this is by no means scandalous.
