NH Hotel Group has notified the workers of its central and corporate services in Spain of the intention to initiate a

collective dismissal procedure

, although it has not specified the conditions or the number of those affected, since they will be subject to negotiation.

The company has explained through a statement that it has started this process "aware" of its management responsibility and of its "required commitment" to safeguard business viability.

"Although these measures are always difficult and painful, postponing them would only have served to aggravate the current situation of the company, risk its future and compromise within a few months a substantially greater number of jobs," he stressed.

Thus, as he has argued, transformation and efficiency have been a constant in NH's management, aware that, for years, the hotel sector is being reconverted, increasingly affected by factors such as the

digitization

of different functions, teleworking or the development of tourist apartments.

This cluster of factors has ceased to "be a threat" and has become the inexorable reality of the present and future hotel business, according to the company.

The hotel chain has indicated that it raises this decision "from the conviction that it is the best option for the interests of professionals, clients, shareholders, creditors and the company, including their own employment in it."

The company has indicated that the documentation that will make up its corresponding technical report will be transferred in a timely manner both to the labor authority and to the commissions established for the negotiation.

"Until the delivery of the explanatory technical report, and while the negotiation remains open during the consultation period, NH cannot make public statements or evaluations of the process beyond this statement," the hotel chain stressed.

In this sense, the company has emphasized that its will is that workers "always be the first" to know the opening, situation and results of future negotiations at the appropriate procedural moment.
