The Medienanstalt Hamburg / Schleswig Holstein initiated proceedings against the Internet giant Google for a federal health portal.

The media law administrative procedure will be initiated on Thursday, confirmed the director of the state media authority, Thomas Fuchs, at the request of the German press agency.

It will be checked whether the prominent presentation of the health portal in a Google search discriminates against other journalistic-editorial offers in the field of health.

The hardest sanction could theoretically be that Google may not present the offer preferentially.

The group would then in turn have the option to take the decision to court.

The state-funded health portal "heil.bund.de "provides verified information on corona and other diseases.

It is highlighted in a box by Google when doing a search.

The information comes, for example, from the German Cancer Research Center, the Robert Koch Institute or medical societies.

Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn (CDU) presented the agreement with the US Internet company last month.
