The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority revealed an increase of more than 205,274 mobile phone subscriptions in the country last August, as “mobile” subscriptions increased from 16 million and 479 thousand and 866 subscriptions last July to 16 million and 685 thousand and 140 subscriptions during the following August. .

The authority clarified in new statistics, published yesterday, that prepaid subscriptions increased from 12 million 890 thousand and 207 subscriptions in July to 13 million 107 thousand and 422 subscriptions, with a total increase of 217 thousand and 215 subscriptions, while the invoice subscriptions decreased from 3 million 589 thousand and 659 subscriptions to Three million and 577 thousand and 718 subscriptions, down 11 thousand and 941 subscriptions.

She added that the number of mobile phone subscriptions increased to 185.2 subscriptions per 100 inhabitants during August 2020, which is one of the largest rates in the world, compared to 183.1 subscriptions per 100 inhabitants in the previous July.

The authority indicated that Internet subscriptions decreased in just a month, 5665 subscriptions to reach two million 996 thousand and 174 subscriptions last August, compared to three million and 1839 subscriptions last July, all of which are broadband subscriptions, and there are no subscriptions on the telephone line.

Fixed-line subscriptions also declined to reach two million 125 thousand 197 subscriptions last August, compared to two million and 129 thousand and 904 subscriptions last July.

Thus, the total subscriptions to the means of communication in the country by the end of last August reached 21 million, 806 thousand and 511 subscriptions.
