Brazil intends to test the Russian Corona vaccine on various ethnicities

Folha de Sao Paolo newspaper said that the Brazilian state of Bahia has agreed with Moscow to obtain data on the Russian vaccine against Covid-19, and that it intends to conduct clinical tests for it.

According to Brazilian media, Brazil also plans to study the effect of the vaccine on non-Russian ethnic populations.

The newspaper added, "The Bahia state government signed an agreement on September 8, in which it pledged to ensure the confidentiality of the data on the vaccine that was developed in Russia."

She indicated that the regional government must obtain permission from the National Agency for Health Supervision (Anvisa) and the National Research Ethics Committee (Conep), to be able to do so, according to Russia Today.

In early September, the authorities of the Brazilian state of Parana announced that, on the basis of a bilateral agreement with the Russian Direct Investment Fund, they would begin testing the Russian Sputnik-V vaccine against Covid-19.

She noted that the tests will begin in October and include 10,000 volunteer medical workers.

The agreement concluded with the Russian Fund, in addition to the third phase of clinical trials, includes the production and distribution of the vaccine in Brazil.
