"Civil Aviation" clarifies regarding the restart of Boeing B737 MAX aircraft in the UAE airspace

The General Director of the General Civil Aviation Authority, Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, said that the authority confirms its commitment to ensuring the safe return of the Boeing B737 MAX aircraft to the UAE airspace.

He added, in a press release, that the authority is keen to continue working intensively with the US Federal Aviation Administration, Boeing and the UAE national carriers to find solutions related to the restart.

Al-Suwaidi stated that “it is expected that the return of the aircraft to service will be associated with the speed with which corrective measures are applied that will follow the flight tests carried out by Boeing recently, such as the procedures for updating the Maneuvering Characteristics Enhancement System (MCAS) and updating the pilot training procedures in addition to testing the operational readiness of all aircraft before returning to service.

He explained that a specialized team has been formed from the authority to monitor accreditation activities and the extent of corrective measures implementation, which is also in contact with the European Aviation Safety Agency to take advantage of the approach they followed in the safe return of the aircraft to the airspace, which is expected to take place during the last quarter of this year.
