A return to the dropper, but a return nonetheless. The Dares (Ministry of Labor) indicates this Thursday that six out of ten employees were present in the premises of their company at the end of June in France, almost a month and a half after the start of deconfinement. By comparison, at the end of May, only half of the employees were on site. They were a third at the end of April, and only a quarter at the end of March, at the height of the coronavirus crisis.

Teleworking remains at "a relatively high level", since it still concerns one in six employees.

The best in catering

The recovery in activity continues, with only 1% of employees attached to a company whose activity was completely stopped at the end of June. This proportion was 5% in May, 12% in April and 19% in March. The improvement is particularly visible in catering and accommodation, with 12% of employees shut down in June, against 49% in May.

Workforce reductions "now mainly involve the cancellation or postponement of planned hires", but the use of non-renewal of fixed-term contracts "remains important", continues Dares.

A lack of outlets

The number of companies having recourse to short-time working, which has been increasing continuously, "decreases sharply and falls back to its level at the end of March". Finally, the outlook for companies remains marked "by high uncertainty and great heterogeneity between sectors".

The main difficulties in perspective remain “the lack of outlets”, the organization of the activity in such a way as to respect physical distancing and “the limited availability of certain employees” due in particular to childcare problems.
