Despite the introduction of telework, 70% reduction in the number of employees will remain at about half, and at 6:31 on April 23.

A survey conducted by Keidanren showed that most major companies have introduced telework and telecommuting systems. However, only about half of the governments have implemented at least 70% reduction in the number of attendants requested by the government to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

This survey was conducted by Keidanren from more than 1400 member companies from 14th to 17th of this month, and 406 companies responded.

As a result, when asked if they had introduced a telework or telecommuting system, 97.8% answered that they had introduced it.

On the other hand, regarding the percentage of employees who are working telecommuting or working from home, 227 companies excluding companies related to infrastructure such as electric power and public works are summarized, and 36.1% answered “80% or more”. 16.3% answered "more than 70% but less than 80%", and the total reduction of at least 70% of attendants requested by the government was 52.4%, which was about half.

When asked about the biggest issues in teleworking and working from home, the "nature of work of employees" was 74.8%, which is related to work that is essential to daily life, such as maintaining lifelines and lending at financial institutions. Employees have found it difficult to work from home.

Keidanren says, "I would like you to review work and devise staffing to prevent the spread of infection and try to reduce attendance as much as possible."
