Dubai Customs Department stated that the value of Dubai's foreign trade in foodstuffs amounted to about 11 billion dirhams during the first quarter of this year, while the amount of the emirate's trade in foodstuffs in the same period reached 2.87 million tons.

The department confirmed that it has strengthened the readiness and preparedness of its customs centers to facilitate the movement of trade in foodstuffs, to support the protection of food security in the UAE, as it provided all the necessary requirements, to ensure that all foodstuffs reach the markets without delay.

She pointed out in a statement that inspection officers and employees at customs centers are working to provide the best commercial and customs services for food merchants, in keeping with the efforts of the UAE, to provide all food and drug needs for society members, in light of the precautionary measures applied by the state to protect society from the “Corona” epidemic. .

Dubai Customs also affirmed its keenness to achieve the best level of cooperation and coordination with the Dubai Municipality, which is responsible for verifying the safety of foodstuffs and their compliance with health conditions, to complete customs clearance for them, in order to ensure their rapid access to markets and the highest levels of quality, to enhance foreign trade in Food: Local production of food, which includes some types of fruits and vegetables, in addition to meat, poultry, fish and other food needs.

Naseem Al Muhairi, Senior Director of Statistics and Studies at Dubai Customs, said: “We put in the forefront of our priorities the facilitation of the movement of trade in foodstuffs, while continuing to implement the precautionary measures to prevent an outbreak of the Corona, and we take great care not to delay these procedures quickly.
