The Department of Economic Development in Sharjah has announced a number of new precautionary and preventive measures regarding migrant workers in order to protect their health and safety and reduce the risk of infection with the emerging corona virus "Covid-19".
The department issued a circular to prohibit the transfer of labor from the emirate to another emirate and restrict its movement within the cities of the emirate of Sharjah, with a commitment to apply precautionary measures in addition to preventing entry of non-resident workers into the emirate, and administrative penalties in force in the emirate will be applied against violators.
The move is to ensure that you are following spacing practices, reducing contact with people who may have the disease, providing the most protection and preserving public health.
Sultan Abdullah bin Haddah Al-Suwaidi, head of the Department of Economic Development in Sharjah, affirmed that the department’s decision to prevent the transfer of workers in economic establishments between the Emirate of Sharjah and the Emirates of the other country by any means of transportation came in the framework of the precautionary measures and preventive measures aimed at preserving public health and implementing the directives issued by The competent authorities in the country and as required by the public interest.
He added that the circular of the department not to move workers from the emirate to any other place and prevent its transfer outside Sharjah aims to achieve physical separation during this period and to preserve it within the efforts implemented by the emirate and the state to preserve society and face the repercussions of / Covid - 19 /.
He pointed out that the circular excludes establishments operating in the cleaning, food and private security activity, explaining that the number of workers in the means of transportation should be half the capacity of them, noting the need to wear masks and leave a safety distance of 2 meters between employment when going up and down from the means of transportation And a healthy observation of employment all the time.
He stressed the importance of companies cooperating with the department to implement the decision in addition to taking many measures in the labor areas to control the virus and prevent its spread, such as ensuring the highest levels of hygiene and not overcrowding the labor housing and take full preventive measures and go to the competent authorities immediately in case there is doubt that any worker is infected With the virus.
