SUBARU also ... 8 companies stopped production of cars in Japan Impact of new corona April 11 at 11:38

SUBARU, a car maker, has announced that it will temporarily suspend operations at its plant in Gunma Prefecture on March 11 due to difficulties in procuring parts due to the spread of the new coronavirus. As a result, all eight automakers will be shutting down some or all factories in the country.

According to the announcement, SUBARU will suspend operations at Gunma Factory in Ota City, Gunma Prefecture from 11th of this month to 1st of next month.

This factory exports about 80% of the cars it produces to the United States and other countries, but has decided to suspend it because parts procurement has become difficult and demand for cars has declined worldwide.

In addition, the suspension period of US factories that have already stopped production will be extended to this month, and SUBARU will temporarily suspend operations at all production sites in Japan and overseas.

Due to the spread of the new coronavirus, Toyota and Nissan have already decided to temporarily suspend operations at some plants in Japan.

With the decision of SUBARU, all eight automakers will temporarily stop some or all of their domestic production, and the impact is expanding both in Japan and overseas.
