• LAST MINUTE: Information about the coronavirus

Naturgy has decided to extend the possibility of deferring the payment of electricity, gas and service bills to all its domestic customers, a measure from which almost four million customers will benefit , the company reported.

The energy company chaired by Francisco Reynés indicated that with this decision it seeks to mitigate the effect of the virus on the family economy due to the increase in domestic consumption, derived from the confinement of the population ordered by the Government to try to curb the contagion curve of this pandemic.

Specifically, the company thus expands the scope of the initiative, which was initially launched for SMEs and the self-employed, to all of its domestic customers with liberalized rates.

In addition, it has also extended the grace period for these invoices to six months by extending the payment period of the invoices accrued until June 2020 and passing them on to collection as of October 2020, invoicing them then in 12 equal payments during the next months.

Specifically, the invoices of domestic consumers, SMEs, micro-SMEs, the self-employed or small businesses, that avail themselves of this aid plan launched by the company, may be paid until September 2021.

In this way, Naturgy will bear the cost of these bills during these months, financing its clients without interest, and thus allowing flexibility in the payment of energy. This measure will be open to both the more than four million domestic customers of the company and the 250,000 SMEs and the group's self-employed individuals in its portfolio.

To access this help, customers must request this deferment of bill payment through the 'Customer Area' section of the company's website.

Naturgy's president, Francisco Reynés, stressed that the crisis "is lasting longer than expected and we all must contribute both to the management of the pandemic and to the economic aspect of the country's families and companies", for which the group It is launching initiatives in this regard and "will continue to do so as long as the crisis continues." "We are not going to stop," he said.

In addition, Reynés added that this initiative seeks that both domestic customers, such as SMEs and the self-employed, "can manage their liquidity and income in the medium term and manage to cope with this period with somewhat more ease within the gravity of the situation."

Since the coronavirus health crisis erupted, Naturgy has launched a package of measures including the provision of electricity and gas free of charge to hotels and residences that cede their facilities to public health.

In addition, the group will provide its nearly seven million clients with free medical care via video call during these months, with the aim that citizens can make health consultations without leaving home.
