  • The government adopted a series of orders Wednesday as part of the health emergency.
  • One of them contains provisions derogating from the Labor Code.
  • These arrangements will last as long as the state of health emergency.

The coronavirus has unexpected effects, even in the Labor Code. The government met this Wednesday in the Council of Ministers to adopt twenty-five orders related to the pandemic. Among these, an ordinance (available here) "on emergency measures with regard to paid holidays, hours of work, and days of rest".

In other words, the executive will put in place new rules that go beyond the traditional legal framework. A choice contested by a good part of the opposition.
