The confinement of Spanish homes entails a strong increase in electricity demand and, consequently, the rising cost of the receipt paid at the end of the month.
Teleworking, eating lunch and dinner daily at home, in addition to leisure time, will have an impact on the electric bill. But, how much will the electricity bill increase during the confinement time?
The comparator of rates Selectra has carried out a study taking as reference two assumptions: that of a house with 4 members - a couple and two children - and that of another in which only two people live. In both cases, the study assumes that all the members become confined at home because their jobs would allow it, and in the first, in addition, the children would go from eating in the school canteen to doing it at home.
Their conclusion is that the cost of having household appliances (laptops, oven, television ...) turned on during quarantine will cause an increase of 25.72 euros in the bill of a 4-person home and 15.60 euros in the case of a home in which two people live together.
To this amount, we must add the expense derived from the use of the washing machine, the dishwasher and the lighting.
