  • The Brittany region has just adopted an exceptional aid plan of 103.8 million euros to support economic and association players hit hard by the coronavirus epidemic.
  • President of the Union of Enterprises in Ille-et-Vilaine, Hervé Kermarrec welcomes the effort made by the public authorities to "preserve the Breton economic tool".
  • The city of Rennes has also announced emergency measures for economic and association players.

"It is an ambitious and courageous plan which testifies to the massive support brought by the public authorities to businesses, with the desire to preserve the Breton economic tool". In these times of crisis, Hervé Kermarrec does not have many occasions to rejoice. President of the Union of Enterprises in Ille-et-Vilaine (EU 35) and president of the eponymous real estate group, he can however only welcome the exceptional aid plan of 103.8 million euros adopted on Monday by the Brittany region .

The measures concern all of the local economic players impacted by the coronavirus, starting with very small businesses, micro-enterprises, craftsmen and traders who will be supported “up to 10.5 million euros through the national fund billion euros of solidarity put in place by the government, ”specifies the region. A zero rate “rebound loan”, between 10,000 and 200,000 euros, will also be created for Breton SMEs over a year old who are facing economic difficulties.

Preserve the work tool while waiting for the resumption of activity

The region also announces "the advance payment of repayable advances already voted on", "the suspension of repayments of repayable advances granted to companies and associations from March 15 to the end of September" as well as support for fishing stakeholders via a aid of 150,000 euros paid to the association of buyers of fishery products. Emergency measures that go in the right direction according to Hervé Kermarrec. "It is important that business leaders can preserve their working tools while waiting for the moment when activity will restart," he believes. And it is also vital that the sectors which continue to function can do so under the best conditions, such as the food industry for example ”.

The aid voted by the Brittany region does not only concern businesses but also the voluntary sector. An exceptional fund for community life will thus be created to support structures up to 5 million euros. The region also ensures that it will maintain its financial support "towards associations affected financially by the cancellation of events or projects", with an envelope estimated at 25 million euros.

Rennes suspends rents, charges and taxes

The metropolis and the city of Rennes also adopted on Monday a whole series of measures "to respond to cash emergencies". All rents, rental charges as well as taxes (tourist tax, terrace rights and public domain occupation charge) are thus suspended.

The planned and budgeted subsidies will also be "paid entirely to associations, especially cultural players, even if the events are canceled," said the communities in a press release.
