The Department of Economic Development Abu Dhabi has issued a circular stipulating a temporary suspension of commercial centers and shopping centers in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi for a period of two weeks from its date in line with the preventive measures related to Corona Virus "Covid-19 and pursuant to the directives of the Emergency and Crisis Administration and the Ministry of Health and Community Protection in this regard.

The department excluded in its circulation the shops that are located inside those commercial centers or markets and practices medical services activities and the sale of foodstuffs, supermarkets, groceries and the like, pharmacies and administrative services offices.

His Excellency Mohammed Ali Al-Shurafa, Chairman of the Department of Economic Development, Abu Dhabi, confirmed that this circular comes as a continuation of the circulars organizing the preventive measures taken by the government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the UAE in general to limit the spread of Corona virus infection as a benefit 19 and reduce the mixing between members of society, including the transmission of infection.

His Excellency clarified that these organized and preventive circulars will be temporary until consideration of the extent of controlling the spread of the epidemic virus and its final elimination, stressing the importance of everyone’s commitment to what came in the circulars, whether from citizens in the complex, citizens, residents or companies and institutions where they have a social responsibility in that.

According to the circular, closing of commercial centers and shopping centers will be applied for a period of two weeks, subject to review and evaluation starting on March 25, 2020, where inspection and control campaigns will be implemented by the department to determine the application of the circular, and the legislation in force will be applied to any violation monitored in this regard.
