Like many French people, our reporter Victor Dhollande worked from home on Monday. Father of three children, he recounts his day and gives his tip for succeeding in working despite everything.

REPORTAGE

This is one of the consequences of the measures put in place to stem the spread of the coronavirus in France: many French people began to telecommute this Monday morning. This is particularly the case of our reporter Victor Dhollande who worked at home all day with his three children. He recounts his day confined to his home, surely the first of a long series.

Create a timetable

Working from home with three children is "especially a big balancing act", says our journalist, who established a schedule with his wife so that his children "do not have too much the impression of being on vacation, and especially to be able to occupy them when it is necessary to work. " A timetable that begins with 1:30 of homework in the morning for Léon, 8 years old, and a writing session for Clémentine, 5 years old. "I made cards of the alphabet, I made the 'A' in the capital, then attached it. And as soon as I finished, I had to find words that start with 'A', like arc- in the sky, artichoke, tree, "she says.

Isolate yourself to work

According to our journalist, "the hardest part is keeping the children focused during the homework phases, especially since the Playmobil houses and other Harry Potter wands are never far away". As for the calm necessary to work, "it is very relative", especially when the youngest, Alice, 17 months, is always behind dad. "A situation in which you have to be patient." But Victor Dhollande has already found a tip: "succeed in isolating yourself to work while taking advantage in particular of naps, but also by inventing games, so that time passes 'more smoothly'."
