The measure was announced in the evening of Monday March 9 and was implemented immediately. " After a day of difficult discussions, we have made a decision : all those who come to Israel from abroad will be placed in solitary confinement for 14 days, " Netanyahu said in a video posted on his Twitter account.

Restrictions had already been put in place for travelers arriving from Italy, the most important center of the epidemic after China, as well as those arriving from other countries, such as France. This in fact leads to the prohibition of entry to tourists or businessmen. These measures will undoubtedly have serious economic consequences for Israel, particularly in the tourism sector, a few weeks before Jewish Passover, April 8, often the occasion of family celebrations and the arrival of people from around the world. whole.

So far, Israeli authorities have identified around 50 cases of coronavirus in their territory.
