Major manufacturers to increase production of masks Ship from the end of this month as early as March 12 at 12:08

As masks continue to be scarce, major pharmaceutical manufacturers have decided to significantly increase production of masks at domestic and overseas bases. We plan to ship to Japan from the end of this month at the earliest.

According to stakeholders, Kowa, whose headquarters is in Nagoya and manufactures pharmaceuticals and masks, will start production of masks at a sewing factory in Southeast Asia from the middle of this month.

The scale of the increase will be initially 15 million units per month, including some domestic production, but we plan to expand to 50 million units per month next month.

The masks produced in Southeast Asia are of the type in which about 15 pieces of gauze are piled up, and can be used several times by washing them.

The aim is to ship to Japan as early as the end of this month.

In addition, the company plans to use a subsidy from the government to set up a new production line at a factory in Japan nearby and increase production of disposable masks.

The government plans to increase supplies of masks by more than 100 million units to 600 million units per month, including domestic production and imports, by the end of this month.
