Mitsubishi Electric Some semiconductor products Shipped without inspection according to standards February 10 22:14

Mitsubishi Electric revealed that some semiconductor products had been shipped for four years and eight months without being inspected according to the standards negotiated with customers. No problem with product safety.

According to the announcement, Mitsubishi Electric shipped some semiconductors, called power semiconductors, manufactured at its Fukuoka factory without being inspected according to standards agreed with customers.

Inappropriate shipments lasted four years and eight months until late June last year, totaling 4705 units.

Regarding the cause, the company stated that although the inspection standard was changed in 2014 at the request of the supplier, the responsible department neglected the necessary procedures and inspected according to the conventional standard.

Regarding product safety, the impact on products incorporating these power semiconductors is being investigated by customers.

Mitsubishi Electric has been strengthening its quality control efforts in the wake of the discovery of fraudulent inspections at a subsidiary two years ago.

Mitsubishi Electric states, "It is not intentional, but we take the quality control very seriously."
